Foo Fighters — ā€œEverlongā€

Life is short, and our time on this planet is limited. If there’s one thing that’s certain, it’s that I’m going to be forgotten sooner or later. No matter how much I accomplish or how many people I touch during my time here, the memories of me will eventually fade away.

It’s a sobering thought, but it’s also kinda liberating. At least for me!

Knowing that we’ll be forgotten can be a powerful motivator to make the most of our time while we’re here.

So why do I even bother trying to make a difference? Perhaps it’s because I believe that even a small impact is worth making. Or maybe it’s because I want to leave behind a legacy for my nieces — Something that will inspire future generations.

That’s my motivation anyway. What’s yours?

Of course, there are some people who will be remembered longer than others. The names of popular or historical figures like Elon Musk, Leonardo da Vinci and Albert Einstein. Yes I had to go there and yes I’ve developed this weird obsession with Elon recently (don’t ask)

In all seriousness, our impact on the world will be much more fleeting.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the time we have while we’re here. We can still make connections with other people, pursue our passions, and create memories that will last as long as we’re around to remember them.

And who knows? Maybe some of those memories will be passed down through the generations, ensuring that our legacy lives on in some small way.

Soooooooo –

  • Take that trip you’ve been dreaming of. Yes, it’s expensive ASF, and yes, you might have to dip into your savings. But trust me, the memories you’ll make and the experiences you’ll have will be worth it.

  • Titles are overrated. Think about it! Ever seen an obituary indicating your title at a random company? Nope! They say your name and list your relationships. Focus on that!

  • Stop giving a damn about what other people think. You do you, and let them do them. Life’s too short to be living it according to someone else’s expectations.

  • Eat the damn cake. Seriously, why are we always depriving ourselves of the good stuff?

  • Tell people you love them. You never know when it’ll be the last time you see them, so make sure they know how you feel. I love you all btw šŸ’œ

  • Take risks. Sure, there’s a chance you might fail, but there’s also a chance you might succeed beyond your wildest dreams.

  • Do something that scares you. I sure did. I ate pineapples. I did it TWICE!

  • Laugh as much as possible. Spread verbal sunshine!

  • Create something. Whether it’s a painting or a song, there’s something incredibly satisfying about bringing something new into the world.

  • Stop and smell the roses. Literally! (Don’t do this if you have allergies)

Focus on living your best life! And don’t forget to have a little fun along the way.
